Match report Following the disappointment of the rain halting progress against Shrewton we moved onto 2021 promoted side Wherwell who have found life in Division 2 quite tough this season, they were also somewhat disappointed to see Ben Humell turn up after his 164 against them in a pre- season friendly.

Winning the toss Joe Lawrance elected to field in the sunshine, a decision that delighted the Wherwell team as they were all trying to avoid the sun, openers Robbie Skeates and Brad Dawes started well putting on 45 before Dawes holed out to the strategically placed Luke Howe off the bowling of George Walters for 29, No 3 Alex Gladwyn scored 1 before nicking off to Ben Hummel of Rich Dando, Stuart Taylor contributed a couple of lusty blows before missing the straight one from Alan Williams for 10, Robbie Skeates holed out to Sam Clements for 20.

Wherwell Skipper Ollie Emslie attempted to settle things down but managed to lose James Spackman (0), Chris Bronks (0) and Adam Foord (8) before he holed out to George Walters running in from Long Off for a watchful 20 off the bowling of Sam Clements, the score then 112-8

Leg spinner Henry Chapman, he of the post-prom triple bouncers, came on and dismissed Harry and Jordan Trebert for a pair, finishing with 2-0 from 5 deliveries, the not out batter being Nathan Young with 9, as Wherwell finished 113 all out in only 28.5 overs

The Woodhay reply was a combination watchfulness and aggression as openers Adam Barnes and Ben Hummel scored at 4.8 an over to finish unbeaten on 50 and 59 respectively as despite using 6 bowlers Wherwell were unable to take a wicket with Woodhay running out victorious by 10 wickets in just 23.5 overs finishing on 117-0
