Match report On a day for the bowlers to forget, EWCC play host to the journeyman team of Old Amplefordonians.

The visitors batted first and, following a quiet 2 overs to start the innings, defence was not part of their though process. Taking advantage of a very good batting track the run rate quickly climbed to 7.5rpo and stayed there for the entire innings. The 7 foot tall J. Craig using his long levers to good effect, to high score for the visitors, with 88. A promising spell of 4 over for only 25 runs at the death from young Oliver Batchelor, was the only real positive to come from the first half of the game for EWCC, which saw their opposition amass 304-5

In reply, the father & son combination of Nick and James Bird strode to the crease, both looking to fills their boots in this early season fixture against a good bowling attack. While the flow of runs never quite matched that of the 1st innings, a superb 109 from James Bird was watched by a crowd looking lot pinker than they had at the start of the day! A belligerent 42 at the end from Will Flack, took the EWCC total to a respectable 257-3.
