East Woodhay Cricket Club Lost 16 runs

Match report The 2nd XI travelled to Brownsfield and duly won the toss and inserted the home team. Following an early wicket for Joseph Sheridan the young pairing of Brown and Sheridan-Hawkins batted very sensibly taking the score to 109-1. With the introduction of Ollie Batchelor the visiting team were able to stem the flow of runs and make inroads into the Thatcham batting order. With regular wickets and some fine catching the Thatcham innings ended at 176-8. The pick of the bowlers being Ollie Batchelor who finished with 6-37 from his 8 overs.

The East Woodhay reply got off to a slow start and following excellent bowling from the Thatcham opening attack of Olly Thorne and Elliot Denton-Powell EWCC found themselves 47-4 just after the drinks break. This brought together Alex Braidwood and Simon Rutt and whilst the run rate was always a challenge a partnership of 82 took the score to 129 and the hint of a possible victory. Despite some power hitting from Sam Clements East Woodhay ended 17 runs short with Alex Braidwood finishing with a creditable 37 not out.
An excellent game with good performances from youngsters on both sides.
