East Woodhay Cricket Club Won by 25 runs

Match report EWCC 2nd XI recorded a second victory of their Division 4 North campaign with victory by 25 runs over Alton CC 3rd XI. Invited to bat EWCC found runs hard to come by due to the accurate bowling of Alton skipper Andy Tapp, who was well supported by youngsters Luke Crook and Ethan Van Der Linde. Despite a solid start from Ollie Batchelor (35) and with wickets falling regularly the innings was held together by Ben Swingler (72), and when joined by late order batsmen some big hitting and sensible running saw the EWCC innings end on 202.

The Alton response was led by the batting of Rohan Wills who scored a good looking century on the batting paradise that is regular produced at the Malverleys. Although remaining undefeated for 105, only Ethan Van Der Linde (28) was able to offer any support. When this partnership was eventually broken the returning Rob Prince (3-31) helped the EWCC bowlers take the remaining wickets and victory.

Next week the 2nd XI are off to Crown Taverners who have also won their first two league games.
