Redlynch & Hale 1st XI v East Woodhay Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI on Sat 13 May 2017 at 2pm
East Woodhay Cricket Club Won by 7 wickets

Match report A fantastic all round display from Richard Dando helped East Woodhay run out comfortable winners by 7 wickets against Redlynch & Hale down in the New Forest on Saturday.

Skipper Joe Lawrance won the toss and inserted the home side and Dando ran amok with a stunning spell of right arm swing bowling. Redlynch danger man Ian Tanner was back in the hutch in the 1st over as he nicked Dando to Toby Albert behind the sticks without scoring. Dando struck again in the next over, clean bowling James Benson with a absolute beauty and although Dave Webber offered some brief resistance with a brisk 18, the introduction of Alan Williams saw his off stump pegged back with his very first delivery. Dando and Williams then destroyed the middle order, Matt Truckie bowled by Dando for 1, Kevin Hopkins bowled by Williams for 4 and then Dando nailed Jack Vincent lbw for 1 and James Taylor, caught by the skipper Lawrance also for 1 as the home side completely caved in, a mixture of some excellent seam bowling and poor shot selection given the state of the game. Dando finished his 10 over spell with superb figures of 5-21 and Williams was an excellent foil, finishing his 10 overs with 2-22. The home side were 67-7 and staring down the barrel. Ian Stevens, who came in at 4, witnessed the carnage around him and he was the only batter to apply himself and try to hold the innings together. George Walters and Duncan Johnson had now been introduced into the attack and although Russ Church added 15 valuable runs, he fell to Walters attempting to pull a ball that didn't get up. Stevens had reached 35 before gloving Johnson to Nick Bird at slip and Johnson finished the innings as Will Hewlett went for a big shot only to sky it to Williams at mid off and Redlynch were 119 all out in the 34th over. Ben Brown was unbeaten on 19 at the close. Walters finished with 1-30 and Johnson 2-10 but it was the earlier heroics of Dando and Williams that were the real stars of the show.

Joe Lawrance and Nick Bird opened up for Woodhay in reply and Lawrance was soon into his stride reaching 17 in no time before he was bowled by Church. Bird followed soon after for 5, caught behind off Webber which left Dando and Johnson the task of reaching the target. Dando was in excellent touch, punishing anything loose and the partnership reached 72 before a super catch from
Hewlett at mid-on bought about Dando's demise for a rapid 47. There were no further drama's as Johnson and Toby Albert added the 16 runs required for victory, Johnson smashing James Taylor over the deep midwicket boundary to finish the match with a maximum, he was 35* at the close with Albert also unbeaten. Woodhay 120-3 in just the 23rd over to make it two wins from
two at the start of their County Division 2 campaign.

Early pacesetters Bedhampton visit Malverley's on Saturday and they are sure to provide a much sterner test for a Woodhay side brimming with confidence at the higher level.
