Littleton & W Hill 2nd XI v East Woodhay Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 09 Jul 2016 at 14:00
East Woodhay Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets

Match report The seconds won their 3rd match on the bounce after a tougher than expected contest at Littleton and West Hill. After winning the toss and inviting the opposition to bat the now familiar combination of Simon Rutt and youngster George Walters was soon in action. Once again the batsman could hardly get the ball off the square reaching only 15-1 of the first 8. The pattern continued with wickets falling thanks to some sharp catching by both George and Dom Walters. At 36 -3 after 20 0vers Woodhay were well on top with Simon Rutt returning splendid figures of 10 overs 2-10.
After drinks the Littleton batsman showed some more aggression, and though the scoring rate improved it gave Woodhay a chance to take some wickets, Ollie Batchelor striking with 2 wickets, supported by some excellent catching first in the deep by Simon Rutt and then skipper Mark Chapman catching a sharp chance low down at short mid wicket.
However chances then started to go down as Gayle increased the tempo in the way to a maiden 50 though it must be said he was helped by several drops. The final score of 173-8 was perhaps 40 too many but still well within the compass of a strong Woodhay batting line up.

The Woodhay openers of youngster Alex Jordan - aged 13 and Adrian Batchelor aged - well lets say he's a bit older than Alex got us off to a good start getting to 30 off only 8 overs before Batchelor inexplicably trod on his stumps whilst trying to pull a short ball. Simon Rutt helped continue the serene progress and it was a bit of a shock when Alex Jordan was caught at made wicket for a well made 23 with the score on 47. Cue a mini collapse - firstly Rutt holed out at long off, then Chapman was bowled by one that nipped back up the slope for 1 and soon after Chakravarty got a leading edge to be caught and bowled and Woodhay were wobbling at 74-5.
However the batting line up is largely reversible and Geoff \Neale and Ben Swingler steadied the ship. With the Littleton attack a bit thin on quality they patiently waited fro the bad ball and began to bat us into the game.

The longer they stayed the more inevitable the victory was and they ended up putting on 100 for the 6th wicket to see Woodhay home with 3 overs to spare.
