Match report
2nds Blown Away
Following their record breaking feats of the opening weekend East Woodhay 2nds were blown away by an in from Twyford top order who themselves broke their own ground record for the highest total achieved. After loosing the toss and finding themselves in the field the opening Woodhay bowlers of Batchelor and Rutt made an excellent start reducing Twyford to 31-2 off the opening 10 overs – Simon Rutt removing both openers
However that bought Reidy and Bance to the crease who after struggling initially with the very slow pace of the pitch found their range and with Reidy in particular being harsh on anything short and then driving over the top anything full, the Woodhay attack found themselves on the receiving end of a 200 plus 3rd wicket partnership. With the fielders wilting in the heat and the batsman running quick singles and taking boundaries whenever they choose the Woodhay attack had no answer. Credit to George Walters (13) who kept his composure when bowling and was as effective as anyone on the day. Ready finally holed out in the deep for 149 and Bunce chipped Chapman to point for 119 it left Woodhay an improbable 308 to win.
Youngster Alex Jordan (aged 13) showed some impressive shots in his 13, however the Woodhay top order struggled to come to terms with the slow pitch. At 25-4 in the 13th over the game was up. Chapman (25) and Batchelor (50) put on 67 for the 5th wicket but they were the only highlights as Woodhay subsided to 124 all out. A tough day at the office!
