Match report The U13's recorded a nail biting win in their U13 Berkshire Div 1 fixture with Bradfield. After beating Bradfield earlier in the season in the County Cup the team were confident of a win. Batting first due to not having all their players arrived Bradfield made steady progress the breakthrough finally being made via a Sebastian run out. All the bowlers were consistent - Charlie Bays returning impressive figures of 2 overs 1 wicket for 9 runs as a reward for his accuracy and Bertie Darke chipping in with 1 wicket for 13 runs of his three overs towards the end of the innings. Pick of the bowlers though had to be Grace Gillespie who picked up 2 wickets in her debut match (both bowled). A target of 105 was a decent return but one that should have been within our compass.

Openers Charlie Weston and Harrison Blakemore ensured we got off to a good start getting us to 48 in 9 overs before Harrison was run out for 17. That bough Kian into bat who was bowled by a good ball from Tozer. Sebastian came in and moved the score on with a few quick boundaries before Charlie was bowled trying to raise the run rate Still at 91 for 4 and needing only 15 to win in 5 overs and with Seb well set there was no need to panic was there?? Enter Luke Brandon who created havoc in the Woodhay middle order firstly getting Seb caught and bowled for 21 and then bowling Bertie and Tom in successive balls to secure a remarkable hat trick and leave us rocking. Belief surged through the Bradfield ranks that they could secure an unlikely win. They had reckoned though without Toby Saich who stepped in as our hero of the hour. Riding his luck a little he powered the ball over the top to inch us towards the target. There was still time to loose our 8th wicket when Charlie Bays was dismissed leaving Fin and Toby to try and score 2 runs of the last over with Grace still left to come. Fin held his nerve jamming his bat down on the second ball of the final over and with Toby calling him through for a sharp single we needed one to win off 4 balls. Victory came the very next ball via 4 byes much to the relief and delight of the watching spectators
