East Woodhay Cricket Club Under 11's v Henley Cougars on Sun 19 Jun 2016 at 10:00am
East Woodhay Cricket Club Won by 7 wkts

Match report The U11's recorded an excellent win with another very good team performance against Henley. After loosing the toss some tight bowling by Freddie and Tom Bailey ensured Henley did not get of to a flier. Even though Henley did not loose a wicket until the 12th over they simply could not sneak and singles and even when they did manage to hit the ball hard the Woodhay fielders chased it down or pulled off an excellent stop. Eventually Joseph Sheridan made the break through courtesy of a good catch from Toby King. King then got in on the action himself clean bowling the number 3 for a duck, and then capped a golden 5 minutes by claiming a very smart catch above his head this time of the bowling of Harry P to reduce Henley to 48-3. With the Henely opener retiring for a well constructed 25 only Philips(9) was able to make a dent in the score board as Daniel Rut and skipper Barney Fox kept things tight at the end. 69 - 5 was not a big score and gave us a real chance to go for the win.

After the half time break the coaches were concerned that the batters may be a little slow off the mark following the splendid array of biscuits on display (provided by the Pellisiers) Mark was particularly partial to the chocolate hob knob whilst Simon favoured a more traditional ginger nut. However despite the boys eating their own body weight in biscuits they got of to a roaring start. Daniel Rutt found the boundary twice and Jacob once to score 13 off the opening over. However by the 5th over the sugar rush had warned off and both Daniel (9) and Jacob (6) had departed. Skipper Barney took up the vigil and together with Harry P we progressed steadily towards the target. There was a short wobble when Harry ran himself out bringing Joseph to the crease (another Fox run out victim from the previous match at Reading). This time though there was no catching out Sheridan who apparently has not taken off his batting pads since last week in a bid to speed up his running. Its certainly worked with some delightful late cuts along with a few lusty blows from Fox brought us within sight. With only 10 runs needed Barney retired for the second time in a row with a fine unbeaten 25 leaving Nathan Delavere and Joseph to guide us him with some sensible batting and aggressive running with 11 balls to spare. A fine effort all round.
